red rock canyon state park

Located in Kern County, CA, Red Rock Canyon is full of fantastically eroded geography, with striking striated rock cliffs that have carved-out, cathedral-like hollows and overall formations that look almost Martian. Because it's so close to L.A. it was used extensively for filming westerns, and more contemporary films like Jurassic Park. T was much bolder than I and scaled the huge cliffs with ease, but since the tread on my shoes were so worn and I was lugging around two cameras I stayed lower to the ground. So much fun!
